Parallel Portal
Parallel Portal is a gateway between dimensions, where tradition, abstraction, technology, and the act of creation converge. For the artist, the process of weaving on the TC2 digital jacquard loom becomes a meditative practice—a way to harmonize ancestral memory, contemporary innovation, and personal intention. The piece incorporates the kusikus pattern (seen as a protective pattern by the Ilokanos and Itneg people of the Philippines) and the lingling-o amulet (a symbol representing fertility and the balance between the masculine and feminine) into an abstracted, freeform, mandala-like interpretation of sacred geometry. Hand-drawn digitally by the artist, the design transforms from the virtual into something tactile—a woven embodiment of memory, energy, and form. Its pulsating symmetry and dynamic forms invite viewers into a liminal space, where weaving becomes a transportive act that bridges the physical and spiritual, the traditional and the modern.
